The person behind the site
Movement has always been part of my life.
I’m Charlie Brown, a certified personal trainer, nutrition coach, and barefoot coach. I created Balance Foundry to make balance and mobility equipment easier to understand—especially for people who want practical answers instead of exaggerated promises.
I live an active life that regularly takes me beyond a traditional gym. Hiking, camping, and spending time outdoors have shown me how much strong feet, capable ankles, usable mobility, and body control matter in the real world. Uneven trails and long days outside have a way of revealing whether your foundation is truly prepared.
That perspective shapes this site. Balance Foundry is not about chasing novelty or buying equipment for its own sake. It is about finding tools that support a clear goal and learning how to use them with purpose.
Why Balance Foundry exists
Clear guidance for stronger foundations.
Balance boards, slant boards, and mobility tools can be genuinely useful, but the differences between products are often poorly explained. This site turns specifications and training concepts into practical decisions.
Choose with confidence
Understand board type, angle, platform size, materials, stability, adjustability, and the use cases each design serves best.
Use equipment correctly
Learn sensible setup principles, beginner considerations, common mistakes, and ways to progress without rushing.
Build useful movement
Focus on control, mobility, stability, and strength that can carry over to training, outdoor activity, and everyday life.
My approach
Start with the goal. Then choose the tool.
No single board is best for every person or every purpose. A wide fixed wedge designed for squats solves a different problem than an adjustable incline board used for calf stretching. A beginner-friendly rocker board offers a different experience than a multidirectional wobble board.
Balance Foundry looks at those differences so recommendations are based on fit for purpose—not simply popularity, price, or the biggest advertised number.
Advice should be understandable and useful outside a textbook.
The right starting point matters more than choosing the hardest option.
Research, product claims, experience, and affiliate relationships should be clearly identified.
Training should support the activities and everyday demands that matter to you.
